What Does the Neighborhood Look Like?
Meadowood was developed as a residential community on 370 acres of rolling farmland and apple orchards on Madison’s southwest side in the 1950s. Much of the neighborhood is covered by single-family homes. Homes in the neighborhood are often listed at or below the median listing price. A number of condominiums and town homes bring additional housing options to the neighborhood. Affordable houses, close proximity to schools and a tight community bond draw many young families and first-time homebuyers to the area. Meadowood Park and Western Hills Park are hubs of community activity. Hammersley Park, which unfolds south to Lucy Lincoln Hiestand Park by way of a lush greenway, and Huegel Park, located just south of the neighborhood, provide even more opportunities to enjoy a summer day. Orchard Ridge Elementary School and Toki Middle School short walks across Russet Road away from neighbors here.

Meadowood’s central location brings accessibility to the neighborhood. Downtown Madison is just six miles northeast of Meadowood, and is about seven miles northwest. Verona is about five miles south of Meadowood, and Fitchburg is about three miles southeast. Popular shopping destinations on Madison’s west side are even closer to home. West Towne Mall is about three miles away, and Hilldale Mall is about four miles away.
