What Does the Neighborhood Look Like?
Much of the Eken Park neighborhood was developed following World War II. The neighborhood offers a variety of housing stock that is well suited for first time homebuyers, young families and retirees alike. The neighborhood features a number of vernacular homes that were built with local resources to meet the community’s unique community needs. Eken Park is also home to some the world’s first modular homes. These pre-fabricated homes were stationed along Coolidge Street, Myrtle Street and other nearby streets following World War II to meet a sudden influx in demand for housing from veterans who returned to the area from the war. Modular homes were designed with dependability and functionality in mind. They often feature two or three bedrooms and attics that can be converted into additional living space. Eken Park is popular among first-time homebuyers and young families because it offers a range of homes that are often listed below the median amount.
