Madison is Wisconsin's beer capital. Home to an abundance of craft breweries featuring exquisite flavors, exciting spaces, and all-around great libation offerings, Madison is an excellent spot for sampling some fantastic beers on your next visit.
Young Blood Beer Company
Young Blood Brewpub in downtown Madison is a modern brewpub offering local craft beers on tap and in cans, designed by Charles Barrows with an oversized hanging trellis and floor-to-ceiling mural by Dylan Waddell - making this place a destination of choice for foodies, beer enthusiasts, and anyone in the know alike.
Notable beers on tap include beers such as these and many other craft libations, including non-alcoholic options. The brewery is open daily from 11am-close with happy hours running on select Mondays from 4pm until closing time (4pm-5pm for happy hour).
Alongside beverages they have an impressive menu with unique and creative dishes for any budget; plus there's even an exclusive beer cave that you can only access by becoming part of their swanky social club!
Capital Brewery of Madison, Wisconsin offers traditional German-style lager beer that stands out as flavorful and distinct. They specialize in family ownership and operation with each batch carefully hand-crafted to deliver great brews! Located in the Middleton neighborhood of Madison. Wisconsin.
The brewery provides tours for a fee, while self-guided tastings are open any time in their indoor Bier Stube and outdoor Bier Garten. They also sell 12-oz bottles and kegs of their beers.
Brewery produces 15-17 different beers annually, including 8 annual beers, 4 seasonal brews, and two limited-release beers. Additionally, they make their own root beer and cream soda that can be purchased through their Gift Haus.
Capital Brewery's Wisconsin Amber, a classic pilsner, was recognized by the Great American Beer Festival as the state's top beer. Other offerings from Capital include Supper Club, Mutiny IPA, Capital Special Pilsner, and Dark Voyage Dark Ale.
The brewery offers indoor Bier Stube and Grain Room facilities from November through April for public and private events, while their outdoor Bier Garten, known as Middleton's Backyard, draws over 1500 patrons on Fridays from May until September.
One Barrel Brewing Company
One Barrel Brewing Company offers an inviting pub atmosphere with an extensive selection of draft beer and casual fare - the ideal combination! Situated in historic Schenk's Corners off Atwood Avenue on Madison's east side.
This small nano brewery employs a single barrel brewing system and 11 fermentation tanks to craft several unique beers, such as Commuter Kolsch, Penguin Pale Ale, and No. 2 Strong Ale.
The brewery also specializes in gluten-free beer and cider as well as offering an impressive array of snacks such as mixed nuts, bags of chips, and frozen pizza for purchase.
Though not large in itself, the brewery offers several tables inside as well as an outdoor beer garden for you to hang out and relax while enjoying a refreshing pint with friends.
Owner Peter Gentry opened the original One Barrel location in Madison in 2012. Since then, plans are in the works to open another location in Door County--renowned as an epicenter for craft beer and cider--next spring.
