My life started in Rockford, IL where I was born and lived until I was 7 years old. My mom, brother and I moved to Monroe after my parents divorced. Monroe is what I like to call “my home town” I lived there until I graduated from high school. Those years were wonderful times with lots of learning experiences. Monroe High School was lots of homework, many new adventures and lots of time training for cross country and track. I was very blessed to be around a number of fine runners who enjoyed running as much as I did. I received many awards through my running career in Monroe. Some of my top awards are two-time First Team All-Conference, two-time Second Team All-Conference, four-time state qualifier for cross country, one-time state qualifier for track, 4x800 school record holder and academic all-state team. Although high school seems a long time ago my love for running and training continues to be a big part of my life.
My Love for real estate started shortly after moving to Monroe when my mom started dating a man named Bub Zwygart who owned a local real estate business. My favorite activity to do as a family was to go tour homes with Bub and my mom. We would always go for a drive at least once a week and tour new homes his office listed or homes coming on the market soon. As I got older my mom and Bub got married and my love for real estate grew. Bub had a lot of investment properties (apartment buildings, business buildings and storage units) which really helped teach me the investment end of real estate. I was also fortunate to get firsthand experience on flipping a few homes and even an old office building with my parents. I enjoyed helping them with their flips and loved our family bonding time. In High School I started working at Bub’s office Century 21 Zwygart Real Estate just as office help. I loved everything about this job and I truly enjoyed helping the agents in any way I could. I loved how all the agents were like family. This only helped me to solidify my decision of giving up a college running career to focus on Real Estate.
Upon graduation from High School I moved to Sun Prairie and attended Madison Area Technical College majoring in Real Estate and Marketing. I instantly fell in love with Sun Prairie and loved how much it reminded me of Monroe. After taking my Real Estate Course I started doing real estate on a part time basis at Century 21 Affiliated and I also waitressed to make ends meet. During this time is when the market crashed so probably not the best time for an 18-year-old to get into real estate. However, I did learn a lot from this experience and I’m so thankful for my time here. It allowed me to learn a lot about foreclosures and short sales. It also taught me that I needed to prepare myself more before I can become a full-time agent.
In January of 2011 I started working at US Bank which I absolutely loved this job. My personality really flourished in the role as a teller. I soon was promoted to the vault teller and back up teller coordinator. This job helped me learn about problem solving and customer service. During this time my now husband and I started to house search. The house search process really made me miss being in real estate and made me want to pursue a career back in real estate.
I found an ad for a local Mortgage Company hiring for an administrative assistant so applied for the job. I was excited to learn that I got the job. During my time with American Lending Solutions I learned a lot more in depth about the mortgage end of the business. I learned about the process, different programs, and all the different departments. My role was to do the data entry work entering in all the loan information from the application into the company system. After about 6 months I very quickly got bored and learned I didn’t want to be on the mortgage end, I wanted to be a Realtor. I missed customer interaction as I went from having a lot to having none.
In November 2013 I began working for Josh Lavik & Associates. I started as an assistant. But I pretty much did everything from showings, open houses, paper work, marketing and more. The first year I was with the team I helped them grow the business by 60%. After my first year with the team we hired an admin to replace me and I moved to a buyer’s agent role. I loved my new role and enjoyed helping buyers make their dream a reality. Since this time, I have doubled my production each year and have grown to really love real estate.
After being on the team for over 4 years as a buyer’s agent in 2017 I decided to go out on my own as an individual agent. I had 2 successful years but always felt like I was missing something. I decided to rejoin the team in November 2019 (coincidental enough the same date I did the first time) I made the decision as it allows me to offer better customer service and value to my clients. I’m so excited to be back on the team to be able to provide a Better Real Estate Experience to all my clients.
